Estate
Marybank Estate wines are grown in our own Adelaide Hills vineyard that embraces a section of sloping hillside at the foot of the imposing "Black Hill".

It's orientation is north and west which enables the vines to soak up the sun year round and combined with the deep limestone soil acts as the perfect conditions for growing the full bodied "Shiraz".

Our grapes are picked by hand and processed on the property. The wine is fermented in open, temperature controlled vats, then stored in stainless steel holding tanks until second stage fermentation is complete. From there it is transferred to "second use" French Oak barriques for a period of up to eighteen months, during which time it is egg fined and filtered. All this, including bottling, labelling and packaging is done on the property.

History
In the latter part of the last century grapes were grown on the property west of the homestead on the flat lands which is now a council reserve. In those days grapes were used for fortified wines by the local winery at Stonyfell.

This continued until a lack of demand by the wine drinking public and the pressures of suburbia meant the pulling of the old vines. In 1998, with the encouragement of our wine-maker Gordon Cook, we decided to continue the heritage of the estate by planting new vines on a section of the property that was not only well suited for growing grapes but was immune to the encroachment of an ever expanding suburban sprawl.
