the vines to soak up the sun year round and combined

Our
grapes are picked by hand and processed on the
property. The wine is fermented in open, temperature
controlled vats, then stored in stainless steel
holding tanks until second stage fermentation
is complete. From there it is transferred to "second
use" French Oak barriques for a period of up to
eighteen months, during which time it is egg fined
and filtered. All this, including bottling, labelling
and packaging is done on the property.
History
In the latter part of the last century grapes
were grown on the property west of the homestead
on the flat lands which is now a council reserve.
In those days grapes were used for fortified wines
by the local winery at Stonyfell.
This
continued until a lack of demand by the wine drinking
public and the pressures of suburbia meant the
pulling of the old vines. In 1998, with the encouragement
of our wine-maker Gordon Cook, we decided to continue
the heritage of the estate by planting new vines
on a section of the property that was not only
well suited for growing grapes but was immune
to the encroachment of an ever expanding suburban
sprawl.
Tasting Notes

together by our good friend and local wine expert
Bill Seppelt.
2001

wood and fruit with ripe berry characteristics.
Good strong tannins in the middle palate. Bright
and vibrant Flavour develops towards the finish
with a lingering blackberry sweetness. Ready to
drink now.

Wonderful Shiraz pepper showing through. Long
elegant palate with French oak following through
from the bouquet. Rich Shiraz flavours are well
integrated. Beautiful to drink now but will age
well.
2003
Deeper than 2002 with rich ruby hues. Young and
rich with big ripe berry and fruit aromas dominating.
Big flavours Well structured with strong ripe
Shiraz characteristics which are proving to be
a strength of this vineyard. The palate is long,
soft and well balanced This wine will reward with
cool cellaring for at least 5 years.
